Tamil Nadu Chief minister MK Stalin has ordered to pay Rs 2000, the first instalment of the Rs 4000 pandemic assistance plan, to people who have newly received their rice category ration cards. This was announced in a press release here on Tuesday.
2,14,950 new card holders under the rice category ration cards will be benefitted by the government order. Stalin has already ordered disbursal of the first instalment in May to 2,07,66950 card holders at an expense of Rs 4,153.39 crore.
The payment to the new rice category ration card holders will also be doled out in May. This will lead to an expenditure of Rs 42.99 crore. The DMK had promised people of Tamil Nadu that once it came to power ,it would provide Rs 4000 Covid-19 cash assistance to people holding rice cards.
