The Union territory of Puducherry reported 355 fresh Covid -19 cases taking the total tally of those affected by the pandemic to 1.13 lakhs.
The fresh cases in the past 24 hours as on Tuesday 10 am, shows that there is a fall in the number of fresh cases giving relief to the health department and the administration in general. The number of active cases in the territory in the past 24 hours is 4668. 741 of these active patients are admitted in hospitals while the remaining 3927 are under home isolation. The Test positivity rate on Tuesday was 3.94 percent.
The 355 fresh cases were identified after testing 9,017 samples.
Five people died in the past 24 hours taking the toll of the number of deaths to 1696. All the five dead were women and from the Puducherry region in the age group of 60 and 85 years.
265 of the total fresh cases were reported from the Puducherry region, 77 from Karaikal, 8 from Yanam and Mahe accounted for five new cases.
According to Dr. Mohan Kumar, Director of Health and Family Welfare, the fatality rates was 1.50 percent while the recovery rates were 94.38 percent.
