Woman beheaded as revenge for killing of Dalit leader, head placed in front of Dalit leader’s home

In a shocking incident a 59-year-old woman, Nirmala Devi was beheaded as revenge for the killing of Dalit leader, Pasupathi Pandian who was murdered in 2012. The decapitated head of the woman was placed in front of the residence of Pandian.

The gruesome murder occurred at Chettinayikanpatti in Dindigul on Wednesday.

Dalit Vellar leader Pasupathi Pandian was murdered in 2012 after a gang barged into his residence in January 2012 killing him instantly. Five persons were killed as revenge for the killing of the Dalit leader even though a trial in the case was taking place in the court.

Nirmala Devi was accused of helping the killers in the murder of Pasupahi Pandian find a house to stay in the town of Dindigul.

Inspector-General of Police, South Zone, T.S.Anbu, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Dindigul,B. Vijayakumari and Superintendent of Police, Dindigul, V.R. Srinivasan are camping at the spot.

Police said that Nirmaladevi was involved in allocation of Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme work in the morning when armed men attacked her with matchets, swords, and other lethal weapons. IG of Police, T.S. Anbu told media persons that a manhunt is on to nab the culprits.

He said that Thadikombu police was investigating the case.
