Registration of marriage has taken a beating in Tamil Nadu after the website of the registration department that register marriages is not accepting the payment of fee since Monday.
Several couples along with their witnesses who have reached the registration offices across the state had to go back without completing the registration process. A senior officer with the Tamil Nadu registration department while speaking to IANS said, “The problem commenced with the payment gateway and some bug is preventing the site from accepting the payment. We can start the registration process but with the payment gateway not functioning properly it cannot be completed. The technical team is working on it and it would be cleared soon.”
Several families who have reached the registration offices across the state have to go back without doing the procedure.
M. Parthiban, a Mechanical engineer who is working abroad, and his newlywed wife, Sugathakumari, a teacher have to go back to their home in Erode after the registration department said that they could not complete the process.
Parthiban while speaking to IANS said, “ I have to return back to UAE where I am working at present and I have come from my village to the registration centre but unfortunately there is some technical glitch. I can understand that there is an issue, but if they resolve it soon, we can complete the process at least tomorrow and finish off that job.”
With Tamil Nadu witnessing several marriages, the failure to get the registration process completed will have its toll on the marriage registration in Tamil Nadu.
