TN youth electrocuted to death while trying to wave atop train engine

Chennai, Sept 11(BPNS)

A 22-year-old youth who had reached Paramkudi to pay respects to iconic Dalit leader, Immanuel Sekaran was electrocuted to death while he was trying to wave a flag by climbing on a train engine. The youth later identified as Vijay was electrocuted when the flag mast got in contact with the high power line above the train engine.

It is to be noted that September 11 is the death anniversary of Immanuel Sekaran and people from all walks of life reach Paramkudi to pay respects to the late Dalit leader at his memorial.  Senior political leaders from all parties had reached Paramkudi on Sunday morning to pay respects to Immanuel Sekran which included  Udayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, and youth leader of DMK.

Police sources told BPNS that a few youths barged into the Paramkudi railway station and one came forward and jump on top of the train engine that had just reached the railway station. While trying to wave a flag, the flag post got in contact with the high-power electric line above and he was electrocuted immediately. He was rushed to General Hospital, Paramkudi where he was declared as brought dead.

Railway officials said that when Tiruchi –Rameswaram express train arrived at Paramkudi railway station, the youth Vijay jumped on top of the train and tried to wave the flag and was electrocuted immediately.
