Chennai, Sept 27 (BPNS)

In another instance of caste turning out into a major social demeaning process in the Dravidian land of Tamil Nadu where politicians by the drop of the hat profess equality, a woman panchayath secretary is accused of using caste slur against the panchayath president who is also a woman.

Following a complaint from the woman panchayath president, police have registered a case and are on trail of the panchayath secretary and her husband along with two other people.

The incident of shame occurred at Nanniyur panchayath in Karur district of Tamil Nadu when the panchayath president, M. Sudha (31) filed a complaint with the local police that she was discriminated on caste basis by the panchayath secretary and even fellow ward members.

Sudha who is a member of the DMK in her complaint registered with the  Vangal police on September 22, stated that the panchayath secretary Nalini and her husband Murthy and former president of the panchayath, Kumarasamy, and another fellow panchayath member had insulted her using casteist slurs. She said that Kumarasamy was a fellow DMK member and added that Nallusamy, another ward member who is from AIADMK also had insulted her using abusive caste slurs.

The Vangal police registered a case and commenced an investigation. However, police said that Nalini, her husband Moorthy, Kumarasamy, and Nallausamy were absconding and that the police are tracing them. The Karur district collector, Dr. T. Prabhushanker has already ordered the suspension of Nalini.
