West Bengal CM meets TN Chief Minister Stalin in Chennai

West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee on a private visit to Chennai called on her Tamil Nadu counterparty, M.K. Stalin at his residence on Wednesday.

Mamata Banerjee is in Chennai to attend the birthday celebrations of the elder brother of West Bengal Governor, L. Ganesan to be held on November 3. It may be noted that the present West Bengal Governor was trying to build bridges with the Chief Minister after the major rift between her and then Governor Jagdip Dhankar who went on to become the Vice President of the country.

Sources in DMK told BPNS that the meeting discussed strategies for the 2024 loksabha elections. It may be noted that Mamata has been trying to form a national alternative against the BJP during the 2024 general elections.

The West Bengal Chief Minister had while speaking to reporters at the Kolkotta airport said, “ Today I will meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin. He is my political friend and this is a courtesy meeting as I am going to Chennai. Whenever two political persons meet there are related things that get discussed.”

Tamil Nadu Water works minister and senior leader of the DMK, S. Duraimurugan, DMK Deputy General Secretary and Member of Parliament from  Thoothukudi loksabha, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and Youth leader and MLA, Udayanidhi Stalin also were present during the meeting between the two Chief Ministers.
