Recall of Governor: DMK extends four more days for MPs to sign memorandum

- November 5, 2022

Chennai, Nov 5 (IANS)

The ruling DMK which is in an all-out war against the Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi has announced that it would be submitting a memorandum signed by party MPs and MPs of other alliance partners to the President for recalling the Governor.

However, around ten party MPs are out of the station and hence the DMK has extended the date for signing the memorandum for four more days. The date of signing the memorandum expired on Thursday. The memorandum is kept at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam.

DMK leader and former Union minister, T.R. Baalu while speaking to media persons said,” The Governor is a nominated person and how can an unelected person oppose a popularly elected government?”

The DMK is trying to get an appointment of the President for submission of the memorandum but has not pressed for the same as more MPs have to sign the memorandum.

The DMK is sore that many bills are pending with the governor including the cooperative Societies bill which is aimed at reducing the term of the directors of the societies from the present five years to three years. It is to be noted that most of the cooperative societies are controlled by the AIADMK.

A bill for establishing  a Siddha university at Chennai is also pending before the governor even as the government has corrected the anomalies pointed out by Rajbhavan and resend the bill.

The DMK is now busy coordinating with the MPs who are yet to sign the memorandum and party headquarters is approaching all the MPs of the party including the alliance Congress MPs for completing the signing process as early as possible.
