The once box office flop movie, ‘Baba’ of Tamil megastar, Rajanikanth which was re-released on his 72 birthday, December 12th has turned into a super hit. The movie directed by Suresh Krissna and in which Rajani playing the role of an atheist who gets a sudden spiritual power was a major flop when it was released twenty years before.
However, the movie makers on its re-release found the movie to have struck a chord with the audience. The supporters and fans of the Tamil superstar have posted long queues in front of the movie theaters were the film was screened.
The movie, according to its makers, has become a major sensation and almost all shows are full in Tamil Nadu and other South Indian states. The producers are planning to increase the number of screens from 200 to 300 and the movie has reported major inflow in other international destinations where it was released.
The movie is considered special for the actor as he wrote the story and screenplay and was also its producer. The movie has a star cast of Rajanikanth, Manisha Koirala, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vijayakumar, Sivaji Shinde, Gundumani and others.. The music of the movie was done by Oscar-winning music director, A.R. Rahman.
The movie has been shortened by 30 minutes and the climax changed to suit present-day moviegoers.
Rajanikanth is now shooting for the movie,’ Jailor’ directed by Nelson Dileepkumar, and will also be acting in the movie, ‘Lal Salaam’ directed by his daughter Aishwarya.
