BJP leader Krishnadas intervenes: Southern Railway announces 17 new trains to Kerala

The Southern Railway has announced 17 new trains during Christmas / New Year season. This is following an appeal made by the BJP National executive commitee member and Chairman of the Passenger User Committee , P.K. Krishnadas.

The BJP leader has in a memorandum to Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnav stated the difficulties being faced by Keralaites who were planning to celebrate Christmas and New Year at their ancestral homes. Krishnadas in a letter to the Union Minister, dated 16th December, 2022 requested him to allow special trains to Kerala from New Delhi, Mumbai and other states to meeth the demand of the passengers to their home state during Christmas, temple festivals and New Year.

The sanctioning of 17 new trains to Kerala by the Southern Railway is highly appreciated by the people who were having big trouble in paying three to times the normal charges to private bus operators who are fleecing the general public.

Saju John, a nursing student at Chennai while speaking to BPNS said, ” The announcement of new trains by Southern Railway is a welcome sign but we have to take this with a pinch of salt as the government should have made the announcement earlier so that this much rush can be reduced as people would have travelled at different times.”
