Nireeksha’s three day national women’s theater festival from Dec 23

A three-day national women’s theater festival was organized by Nirkeesha’s Women theater group from December 23rd to December 25th. The three-day women’s theater festival will be conducted at the Vyloppilli Sanskriti Bhavan to mark the 23rd anniversary of Nireeksha Women’s theater group.

The national women’s theater festival is the first time in Thiruvananthapuram and for the first time that a women’s theater group is organizing a national-level festival.

The theater festival will showcase 14 plays by women directors of various genres. There will be theater workshops, and seminars in which women from various fields will present papers, poetry presentations, music programmes, and Kalari performances by women.

There will also be a three-day drama workshop exclusively for the women of Rangasree in collaboration with Kudumbasree. The workshop will be led by women theater experts from within and outside the country. Nireeksha is organizing the festival with the Union Ministry for Culture, Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala, Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan, and Kudumbashree.

Nireeksha plans to make this National Women’s Theater Festival an annual affair and upgrade it to an International Women’s Theater Festival ( IWTF). A Festival committee is convened for the festival with Rajarajeswari, Sudhi Devyani , Sushma Vijaylakshmi, and Soya Thomas as members for the smooth conduct of the festival.
