Covid -19 :TN to test 2% of international passengers arriving in state

The Tamil Nadu health department would conduct 2% random testing of all international passengers reaching the airports of the state. The Tamil Nadu health minister, Ma Subramanian while speaking to media persons at Chennai said that he would inspect the Chennai international airport on Saturday.

The state health minister also said that he would be meeting the Union Health minister , Mansukh Mandaviya soon. Ma Subramanian said that the state health department was prepared to handle the Covid -19 cases and added that the state was well equipped with necessary hospital beds and oxygen cylinders.

He also said that the state has ample  stock of medicines and added that the state had inoculated 97% of the population with the first dose of Covid -19 vaccine and 92% with the second dose of vaccine.

With the number of Covid-19 cases on a high in the United States of America, China, and Japan, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin has directed the passengers coming from these countries to be tested for Covid -19 at the international airports of the state.

The minister also said that the state was having a fever screening facility at all international airports of the state and that all passengers with fever, cough, and cold are being tested there.
