TN man who dupes Five-star hotels held

A 63-year-old man was arrested by the Kerala police at Kollam on a complaint by a Five-star hotel at Thiruvananthapuram that he had cheated them for the room rent, and food, and had stolen a laptop.

A 63-year-old man was arrested by the Kerala police at Kollam on a complaint by a Five-star hotel at Thiruvananthapuram that he had cheated them for the room rent, and food, and had stolen a laptop.

The person hailing from Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, Vincent John who speaks excellent English had taken a room in a five-star hotel in Thiruvananthapuram. He did not pay any advance room rent and instead entered into a friendly relationship with the hotel management. He stayed in a suit room for a couple of days, took food and consumed the best liquor, and later requested the hotel that he had to attend a function and that he needs a laptop.

Vincent John then slipped away from the hotel and after a few hours, the hotel staff could understand that he had duped them and lodged a complaint with the police station. Police while searching his mobile phone signals found that Vincent John was in Kollam railway station and communicated to the Kollam police who apprehended him.

Police said that in 2019, he had cheated another five-star hotel in Kollam and decamped with valuables. According to the information available, Vincent John had more than 200 cases of cheating in five-star hotels across the country, and most numbers of cheating were done in Mumbai.

Vincent John was taken to Thiruvananthapuram police station and speaking to media persons said, “Five-star hotels are the places where maximum nefarious operations including betting syndicates are functioning and I wanted to teach them a lesson.”
