A probe has been ordered into the alleged incident in which a 12-year-old boy got badly beaten up for stealing guava. The incident said to have taken place on January 15, has been reported from Aliparamba in Perinthalmanna at Malappuram. Taking note of the reports, Women and Child Welfare Minister Veena George has ordered a probe. The boy who is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital alleged that he was first hit by a speeding bike and then was kicked in the leg. The boy is said to be having a leg fracture.
As per eyewitness accounts, the boy along with some of his friends had gone out to play. And they noticed the guava tree with fruits in a compound, near the playing area. As they were plucking the fruit, the owner came. He stopped the boy and started beating him. It is said that it was the owner’s relatives who rushed the boy to the hospital. The boy’s parents upon knowing of the incident complained to the police. According to the police, a case has been registered and an inquiry has been launched.
At the same time, based on the minister’s order, the Women and Child Development Director is also conducting a probe. The minister had assured that the boy will be provided with adequate medical attention and legal aid.
