The Tamil Nadu police on Monday arrested a BJP worker for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin and his family. The arrested BJP worker is identified as Jagadeeshan of Reddyapetti. The BJP has distanced itself from the act of the party worker. However the BJP spokesman, Narayan Tripathy questioned why no action was taken against DMK leaders including party platform speaker Shivaji Krishnamoorthy and R.S. Bharathy for making derogatory remarks against the Tamil Nadu Governor, R.N. Ravi.
The Tamil Nadu police have charged a case under Sections 294(B), 153(A) 1(B), 505(2) of IPC, and Section 67 of the IT Act.
Jagadeesan was arrested following a complaint by the DMK Advocates wing that the BJP worker had uploaded a video in which he was purportedly using foul language against Chief Minister Stalin, his son Udayanidhi Stalin and his late father, M. Karunanidhi.
The BJP has distanced itself from the act of its worker. However the BJP spokesman, Narayan Tripathy questioned why no action was taken against DMK leaders including party platform speaker Shivaji Krishnamoorthy and R.S. Bharathy for making derogatory remarks against the Tamil Nadu Governor, R.N. Ravi.
Shivaji Krishnamoorthy had said, “ If the Governor refuses to utter the name of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in his assembly speech, don’t I have the right to assault him? If you (R.N. Ravi) don’t read out the speech given by the government, go to Kashmir and we will send terrorists so that they will gun you down.”
The DMK organizing secretary, R.S. Bharathi had called the Governor a ‘ panipuri wala’. While the DMK removed Shivaji Krishnamoorthy from all his posts and suspended him from the primary party membership but no such action was taken against R.S. Bharathi who is the state organizing secretary of the party. However, the BJP pointed out that there has been no police action against any DMK leader for insulting the Governor of Tamil Nadu and asked why the a double standard in this case.
The BJP spokesman also said that no action was taken against DMK leader Saidai Sadik who had spoken ill of BJP women leaders of Tamil Nadu including actor Kushboo. There has been no police action against Saidai Sadik also.
