A Siddha doctor in Tamil Nadu, Dr. Sharmika who was accused of giving false medical advice to people have deposed before the investigation team of the Siddha government medical college at Arumbakkam, Chennai on Tuesday.
According to the information available the lady doctor had given wrong advice to patients on the internet especially on the weight of the patient and the diet to be consumed. There are allegations that Dr. Sharmika had also given wrong advice on breast cancer as well.
It is to be noted that the authorities have sent a notice to Dr. Sharmika asking for an explanation of the comments she had made on the internet regarding weight loss, the diet prescribed, and even diseases like cancer. The Siddha doctor appeared before the investigation authorities at the Siddha medical college following the notice.
The authorities are investigating whether the prescriptions given by the doctor are in compliance with the Siddha medical commission rules. The department is also probing whether the lady doctor was duly registered to provide medical prescriptions.
The Siddha medical commission is also probing whether the advice provided by Dr. Sharmika had any scientific evidence.
However, when contacted the Siddha medical college authorities refused to comment on the investigation carried out and also the deposition made by Dr. Sharmika.
The accused Dr. Sharmika was also not available for comments.
