Chennai, Jan 26( BPNS)

The ruling DMK will be attending the ‘At Home’ reception of the Tamil Nadu Governor, R.N. Ravi as part of the Republic Day celebrations on Thursday.  Sources in the DMK told BPNS that a late evening phone call by the Tamil Nadu Governor, R.N. Ravi to Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin inviting him for the ‘At Home’ reception has led to breaking the ice between the two.

It may be noted that after the Governor walked out in a huff from the state legislative assembly during the inaugural ceremony of the budget session of the assembly, there was no contact between the Chief Minister and the Tamil Nadu Governor, R.N. Ravi.

The Governor deputed his secretary, Anandrao V. Patil  to meet the Chief Minister and hand over the invitation for the ‘ At home’ reception.

Sources in the Tamil Nadu government told BPNS that Stalin will attend the ‘At home’ function in Rajbhavan or would depute a senior minister for the function.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has decided to boycott the function at  Rajbhavan as part of the Republic Day celebrations. The Congress legislative party leader, Selvaperunthagai told media persons that he and his party MLAs would boycott the ‘At Home’ celebrations by the Governor.

The Congress leader in a statement said that the Governor was acting as an agent of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and was running a parallel government. He also said that the Governor was ‘ deliberately delaying’ his assent to important legislations in the state assembly.

Tamizhaga Vazhurimai Katchi leader and Panruti MLA, T. Velmurugan said that his party would also boycott the ‘At Home’ reception as the Governor was insulting the government of Tamil Nadu and its people for delaying assent to several bills passed by the assembly.

The CPI state secretary R. Mutharasan said that the party was boycotting the ‘At Home’ reception at Rajbhavan as R.N. Ravi was functioning as the RSS head rather than the Governor in the state.

The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalvan said that his party would boycott the ‘At Home’ reception by the Governor.
