Bus catches fire in Salem,TN:10 passengers injured

A private bus that was bound for Bengaluru from Coimbatore caught fire in the early hours of Monday.

A private bus that was bound for Bengaluru from Coimbatore caught fire in the early hours of Monday. There were 43 passengers on board the bus and most of them broke the windows and front and rear doors and jumped out to save themselves from the fire.

However, 10 people were burnt and injured. The injured are admitted to Mettur government hospital and are undergoing treatment.

The incident occurred at 1.30 am near Mettur in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu.  The driver alerted the passengers after the front side of the vehicle caught fire.

The fire and rescue personnel from Mettur reached the point and in an hour of firefighting were able to douse the fire. The bus was totally charred.
