Tamil nationalist leader and President of World Tamil Confederation, Pazha Nedumaran has said that LTTE leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran was still alive and he was living with his wife and daughter.
Nedumaran was addressing media persons at Thanjavur on Monday. The Tamil leader said that at present, the location of Prabhakaran cannot be disclosed and will divulge at the right moment.
He said that the Sri Lankan government had portrayed Prabhakaran as a person against India. Nedumaran said that as the present global situation was optimistic and the Rajapakse government has come to an end, he was disclosing this now.
The Tamil nationalist leader also said that the information that Prabhakaran was alive will give lot of confidence among the Tamils in Sri Lanka and added that he has made the announcement with permission from Prabhakaran.
Sivaji Lingam, a former Member of Parliament from Sri Lanka said that the Sri Lankan government had not confirmed on the dead body of Prabhakaran. He added that the announcement made by Nedumaran that Prabhakaran was alive is giving lot of happiness to the Tamil people across the world.
It may be noted that in May 2009 after the final battle between LTTE and Sri Lankan army, it was announced that Prabhakaran was killed and some photographs were also released.
Nedumaran who was a former leader of the Indian National Congress is credited to have saved the life of Indira Gandhi when she was attacked by a violent mob during her trip to Tamil Nadu.
