The Tamil Nadu Congress President, K.S. Alagiri has charged that the AIADMK was enacting a drama by distancing themselves from the BJP to garner votes in the Erode East by-polls. He said that the AIADMK knows that if the AIADMK showcases its relationship with the BJP in the open, the party won’t get votes in the election and hence the drama.
Alagiri while addressing media persons in Erode on Tuesday said that the AIADMK cannot carry the pictures of BJP state president, K. Annamalai and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi as people will not vote for it.
He said that the people of Tamil Nadu has lost confidence in AIADMK and that it was sad in finding BJP also being part of this drama episode enacted and scripted by the AIADMK.
The Congress president said that immediately after the by-elections were announced, the DMK had allocated the seat to the Congress as it was the sitting seat of the Congress. He however charged that the AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami had seized the seat from the Tamil Manila Congress (TMC) which had contested the seat during the 2021 assembly elections.
He also said that certain government schemes may bring hardship to the people but the revenue generated from such schemes would benefit the people. K.S. Alagiri was responding to the question on whether the hike in property tax and power tariffs had adversely affected the prospects of the front in the election.
The TNCC president also said that there were several cities created under the sea in European countries and in Dubai also exhibitions were conducted under the sea. He was responding to the protests against the Pen Memorial for late Chief Minister, M. Karunanidhi being built at Marina beach in Chennai. He said that the construction of the Pen memorial at Marina in the Bay of Bengal will not have any impact on the environment.
