‘Election commission acting like DMK’s election wing in East Erode by-poll: AIADMK

The AIADMK has alleged that the Election commission was acting like the DMKs election wing and that the police and all other departments are under the control of the DMK.

The AIADMK has alleged that the Election commission was acting like the DMKs election wing and that the police and all other departments are under the control of the DMK.

AIADMK leader and Member of Parliament, CVe Shanmugham alleged that the DMK had erected temporary sheds at all booth areas and voters are confined in these sheds all through the day. He said that food was served to the voters and cash distributed. He said that the AIADMK leaders are prevented from meeting the voters.

The AIADMK leader also demanded that the Chief Electoral Officer and District Election officer intervene and get the people released.

Shanmugham who is also the former law minister in the previous AIADMK government said that party leaders and functionaries were intercepted by the police under the guise of vehicle checks.

He said that the police were doing this deliberately to prevent the crowd from gathering in the public programmes of AIADMK interim general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) who was commencing his public campaign on Wednesday evening.

CVe Shanmugham said that the Election commission had appointed two observers and charged that they were not being seen and added that the AIADMK would be forced to stage a protest against the Election Commission.
