In a tragic incident four girl students of a Government School in Virumalai, Pudukottai who were on an excursion trip died by drowning in the Cauvery river. The girls are identified as Tamilarasi, Sobhiya ,Iniya and Lavanya.
The incident occurred at Mayanur in Karur district of Tamil Nadu. Karur police officials told BPNS that the four girl students of Virumalai Government School in Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu were on an excursion trip and they died by drowning in Cauvery river at Mayanur in Karur district.
The students had participated in a football match and later came to Mayanur in the Karur district. According to police one girl fell into the water and others tried to save her but could not save themselves and were drawn into the water.
The Karur Fire and Rescue Department personnel reached the spot and found the bodies of the four girls.
