Tamil Nadu BJP state president, K. Annamalai rattled by the back-to-back resignations of party functionaries and joining AIADMK has lashed out at the ally. He said that the AIADMK was ‘poaching ‘ BJP leaders and in a tweet, he said,” If I decide to go shopping (poaching), my shopping list will be big. But the time and venue, I will decide”.
He also said that the presence of a former Chief Minister, while a second-level, third-level, fourth-level, and fifth-level BJP leader was joining the AIADMK, was a message that the BJP has grown in Tamil Nadu.
He said that earlier the BJP used to poach from the Dravidian parties for it to grow but presently Dravidian parties were poaching from the BJP for their growth.
In a hard-hitting statement on tweeter, he said, “Before the Kurukshetra war, people were allowed to change camps. The war which will start in a few months from now, let everyone take positions.”
The BJP Tamil Nadu state president who is also a former IPS officer said that his aim was to bring BJP to power in Tamil Nadu and added that he was not a BJP manager but a BJP leader.
It is to be noted that the Tamil Nadu BJP IT cell president, CTR Nirmal Kumar quit the BJP on Sunday and joined the AIADMK in the presence of the party interim general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS). On Monday, the BJP IT cell state secretary, Dilip Kannan also resigned from the saffron party only to join the AIADMK on Tuesday along with a few other state leaders. BJP state leader and actor Gayathri Raghuram quit BJP in December 2022 alleging the dictatorial attitude of Annamalai. The BJP OBC morcha leader Tiruchi Suriya who is the son of DMK leader and Member of Parliament, Tiruchi Siva also quit the BJP.
Sources in the BJP told BPNS that several leaders are antagonistic to the style of functioning of K. Annamalai ever since he has become the state president of the party.
