The Periyar University in Tamil Nadu has suspended an Assistant Professor with the Computer Science department for misappropriating students’ money.
The students had lodged a complaint with the Periyar University, Vice Chancellor, Dr. R. Jagannathan a few days ago that the Assistant Professor of Periyar University, Dharmapuri sub-center, K. Prabha was misappropriating their funds.
The university conducted a preliminary inquiry and found that the allegations were true. Periyar University, Registrar –in Charge, R. Balagurunathan issued the suspension orders on Friday.
The Periyar university has also constituted an investigation committee against the Assistant Professor and further inquiries will be conducted from Monday, March 13, 2023 onwards. Further action against the University Assistant Professor will be taken after the final investigation report.
The University also terminated the services of Srinivasan , a staff member, at the Periyar University Centre for Online Distance Education (PUCOD) for printing fake bank challans along with an accomplice.
Students and Private centres had raised complaints against Sreenivasan that he was misappropriating the fee of students as every fee is paid by the student through bank challan. Sreenivasan along with the accomplice would fill out the fake bank challan and affix a bank seal and then submit it to Periyar university.
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption conducted an inquiry and found that the allegations were true. Based on the inquiry report, the University terminated the services of Sreenivasan.
