Chennai Police arrested a 33-year-old man, Muniyandi for allegedly forcing young women into a prostitution racket at a beauty salon in the city.
An officer with the Anna Nagar police station told BPNS that the police received a tip-off that a beauty salon in Anna Nagar was involved in prostitution racket.
A raid conducted in the beauty salon at Thirumangalam road on Saturday found gullible women who were forced into a sex racket. The women deposed before the police that they were being forced into sex racket by Muniyandi.
Police on investigation found that Muniyandi was owning a beauty salon and a Spa and was forcing women who work in the beauty parlour into prostitution racket.
Muniyandi was arrested and produced before a judicial magistrate court which promptly remanded him into judicial custody.
Sources in the Greater Chennai police told BPNS that the police would soon be conducting a crackdown on the beauty parlours and other such institutions in the city to find out whether any more such beauty parlours or Spas are into any illicit affairs in their institutions.
