Former Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Tamil Nadu and retired IAS officer, R. Rajagopal has joined the Congress party. He was welcomed by the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President, K.S. Alagiri.
Alagiri while speaking at the occasion said that Rajagopal had a long and distinguished career as an administrator. CPI-ML leader, Malayiyaraja also joined the Congress. Alagiri said that Malayiyaraja has been a major voice in Tamil Nadu for working-class and marginalized people through his life.
The Tamil Nadu Congress committee president lashed out against the Delhi police action in the house of Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi. The Congress Tamil Nadu president asked as to what wrong Rahul Gandhi had done for the police to barge into his residence.
KS Alagiri said that Rahul Gandhi was invited by renowned colleges abroad to speak about the state of democracy in India. The Congress leader said that Rahul had spoken about how voices of opposition were shut down in the parliament.
Alagiri also said that the Congress committees of Kerala and Tamil Nadu would jointly commemorate the 100 years of the Vaikom temple struggle. He also added that the Erode East MLA and senior leader of the Congress party, EVKS Elangovan will walk with his supporters and party workers to Vaikom in Kottayam district of Kerala on March 28.
