CBI court sentences IAS officer to 3 year jail

A CBI-designated court in Hyderabad on Saturday, sentenced an IAS officer of the AGMUT -1991 cadre, Kavadi Narasimha to three-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh with regard to a disproportionate asset case.

A CBI-designated court in Hyderabad on Saturday, sentenced an IAS officer of the AGMUT -1991 cadre, Kavadi Narasimha to three-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh with regard to a disproportionate asset case.  This was announced by the CBI in a statement on Saturday.

The CBI had on December 21, 2006 registered a case against Kavadi Narasimha who was then the Secretary to the Government of Mizoram following allegations that he had amassed wealth to the tune of Rs 32.31 lakh during his service period between 1991- 2006 was disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A charge sheet was filed on June 30, 2010 against the IAS officer and he was found guilty by the trial court and convicted.
