A teachers association of Tamil Nadu has come out against the education department conducting an online meeting for teachers on the Ramzan holiday on Saturday.

Second Grade Seniority Teachers Association (SSTA), J. Robert in a press statement on Saturday said that it was highly condemnable over the state school education department conduct training classes for teachers on Ramzan day.

He said that teachers who were trained for the School education department’s ‘Ennum Ezhuthum’ scheme were called for online training on Ramzan Day which was a holiday in Tamil Nadu.

The SSTA general secretary in the statement said, “Teachers were compelled to attend an online training programme on Ramzan day which is highly condemnable.”

The statement also said that in the future if teachers were forced to work on festival days and on national holidays, the organization would conduct protest marches.
