Karnataka Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai has said that the government would conduct an inquiry into an audio tape in which the speaker was threatening to kill the members of the family of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge. The Congress has alleged that the voice in the tape was of the ‘blue-eyed boy’ of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Manikanth Rathod who has several criminal cases against him.
The Chief Minister while speaking to reporters at Hubbali said that a case would be registered and an investigation conducted on the audio tape that is viral in social media. He also said that the Police would inquire whether the tapes were doctored and conduct a proper investigation into the same.
It is to be noted that Manikanth Rathode is contesting against the son of Mallikarjun Kharge and former minister, Priyank Kharge in Chittarpur constituency in Kalaburagi district of Karnataka.
Bommai told reporters that the BJP national organizing secretary, BL Santosh had never said that the BJP does not require the support of Lingayat community or its leaders to come to power and added that the news report to the contrary were fake.
The Karnataka Chief Minister also said that the film stars and celebrities were free to campaign for any political party or leader and added that just like the stars have the right to campaign for any party, others have the right to criticize the actors also.
He was responding to questions on BJP workers and leaders targeting Kannada Super Star ,Shiv Rajkumar on campaigning for the Congress party.
