Shettar lashes out at BJP, says caste was criteria for Cabinet berth at Centre

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Jagadish Shettar who quit the BJP and joined Congress , lashed out at the BJP national leadership. In a hard hitting press conference here on Monday.

He said that people of Karnataka elected 25 MP’s for the BJP but only one Cabinet minister post was provided.

He further said that the person who was given a cabinet minister berth was from a special caste( Implying that Prahlad Joshi , Union Coal minister was a Brahmin.) 

He said that the Minister of State’s.  Hi Shoba Karandilaje was from Vokkaliga community, Narayana Swamy was a Dalit and Bhagwanth Kuba was a Lingayat. He said that a section of the BJP was making matters worse for the party.

When asked whether he would join the BJP again just like Yedurappa and Sriramalu, Shettar said that till his last breath, he would be with the Congress.

Jagdish Shettar also said that the Congress party was inclusive of all people and that there was no hatred against anyone. He also came out against Chief Minister Bommai and added that he had tried to join Congress sometime earlier.

Shettar who is fighting a tough battle in the constituency which he has represented 6 times said that he would win the polls with a good margin.

The senior leader also said that the Congress party would form the government in Karnataka with an absolute majority.

When asked whether he was in the race for CM ship if a Congress government comes to power , Shettar said ,” I don’t have any such ambitions and will remain a legislator.”
