IT raids in premises of TN minister Senthil Balaji, Officials assaulted

The income tax department is conducting raids at places attached to Tamil Nadu electricity and Prohibition and Excise minister Senthil Balaji.

The income tax department is conducting raids at places attached to Tamil Nadu electricity and Prohibition and Excise minister Senthil Balaji.

Sources in IT department told BPNS that raids are conducted at around 40  places in Chennai and Karur. DMK supporters assaulted the IT officials and damaged their vehicles. All of them are admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Karur government hospital.

According to reports fthe Tamil Nadu State marketing corporation (Tasmac), the state government body selling liquor, officials were charging 10to 20 rupees extra per bottle in Tasmac and this money was channelised to the ‘Karur’ gang attached to Senthil Balaji.

Senthil Balaji is also the minister for power and there has been allegations about him intervening in TamilNadu Distribution and Generation Corporation (Tangedco) contracts.

It may be noted that a couple of weeks before , the Income Tax department had conducted raids in the premises of G-Square , a real estate firm. There are allegations that this company has contacts with the first family of Tamil Nadu meaning family of Chief Minister, MK Stalin.

BJP Tamil Nadu state president, K. Annamalai has earlier demanded the removal of Senthil Balaji from Stalin’s cabinet. The BJP leader has said that based on the Villupuram and Chengalpattu hooch tragedies, the excise minister, Senthil Balaji must put in his papers.
