The day one well and truly belong to Australia. They are sitting pretty at 327/3 after a marathon undefeated partnership of 251 runs in just 370 balls, for the 4th wicket between Travis Head and Steven Smith.Head the dominant partner batting on 146 and Smith is batting on 95.
India winning the toss India put Kangaroos to bat. Siraj and Thakur struck before lunch by dismissing Khawaja and Warner. India started the 2nd session also well, with Shami dismissing Labushange. At 73/3 Aussies were on the back foot. But it was just the beginning of one of the finest counter-attacks in test cricket. Head decided to take the Indian bowlers on, first, he attacked Umesh Yadav mercilessly and then he went after every Indian pacers. Put them under tremendous pressure and they all went wayward in their line and length. Smith played the second fiddle to Head perfectly.
India had to play their best cricket both with the bat and ball to come back in this game. Wicket absolute batting paradise execpt for those one hour at the beginning. India’s first objective will be to break this partnership and held Aussies under 400-450. Where as Aussies will try to post 500 plus and don’t wanted bat again in this match. First session of the day 2 will be crucial for both teams. But time being it is advantage Australia.
