Union Home Minister and senior leader of the BJP, Amit Shah will visit Chennai on Saturday evening. He will meet a few industrialists at a Guindy hotel where he is staying.
He will be meeting the Chennai South Loksabha Constituency functionaries of the BJP at a marriage hall in Kovilambakkam on Chennai morning. The visit of the senior BJP leader is, according to the BJP leaders of Tamil Nadu, a move to activate the party’s grass roots in the run up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
BJP will be contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in alliance with the AIADMK and the party expects to win 11 seats. This includes Chennai South, The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Vellore, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli and a few other seats.
AIADMK general secretary and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) is scheduled to meet Amit Shah in Chennai. Sources in the BJP told BPNS that the expelled AIADMK leader, O. Panneerselvam has also sought an appointment with the BJP leader and is also likely to meet him.
The Union Home minister will leave for Vellore in a chopper from Chennai to attend a public rally there.
