Chennai, June 10 (BPNS)

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said that the BJP which has faced reverses in Karnataka assembly polls may advance the Lok Sabha polls. He was speaking to the DMK functionaries at Salem on Saturday.

He also asked Union home minister Amit Shah as to what the BJP has done for the state of Tamil Nadu in the last nine years after it had come to power.

Stalin said that for the past two days there were reports on Amit Shah visiting Tamil Nadu and addressing public programme in Vellore. He said, “ While DMK was part of the Central government during 2004-14 ,we brought many schemes such as metro rail for Rs 16,600 crore,  highway projects worth Rs 56,664 crore and the Sethusamudram project to the state. We also obtained 11% of the total funds allocated for various schemes by the Government of India to Tamil Nadu.”

He also said that the only support given by the Central government to Tamil Nadu was the allocation of AIIMS to Madurai but added that the central government did not have the heart to allocate Rs 1000 crore for the project.

It is to be noted that Amit Shah is reaching Tamil Nadu on Saturday night and is attending a public programme at Vellore on Sunday. The BJP leader will be meeting the BJP office bearers of South Chennai Loksabha constituency.

Stalin called upon the DMK cadres to be prepared for elections and said that no political party would be able to defeat the DMK and exhorted the party cadres to work hard to win all the seats in Tamil Nadu in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

It may be noted that the BJP is expecting to win 11 seats from Tamil Nadu in the political alliance with the AIADMK.
