Chennai, June 10 (BPNS)
Tamil Nadu minister for Sports development and Youth Welfare Udayanidhi Stalin said that the DMK has a major role to play in the opposition alliance in the country. He was speaking to reporters in Chennai on Saturday.
Udayanidhi while speaking to reporters said, “DMK has a major role to play in opposition unity as it had always opposed the BJP”.
It is to be noted that the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called for an opposition unity meeting in Patna on June 23 and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin has confirmed his attendance in it.
The meeting was actually scheduled for June 12 but after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and some other leaders including Congress All India President, Mallikarjun Kharge expressed their inability to participate in it, the meeting was postponed to June 23.
The meeting is aimed at forging an opposition unity against the BJP in the ensuing 2024 Lok Sabha elections with almost all leaders opposing the BJP expected to take part in the meeting.
The Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been coordinating with opposition parties for opposition unity at the national level and had already met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, NCP leader Sharad Pawar and National Conference leader Farook Abdullah to elicit their views regarding the opposition unity.
It is to be noted that after the stupendous victory in Karnataka, the Congress has regained confidence and an internal survey conducted by the party has revealed that it would be winning Madhya Pradesh by a good margin.
