ED arrest TN  Electricity minister Senthil Balaji , hospitalized

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Tamil Nadu Electricity minister, Senthil Balaji in a money laundering case.

Chennai, June 14 (BPNS)

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Tamil Nadu Electricity minister, Senthil Balaji in a money laundering case. He was arrested following 18 hours of quizzing at his official residence in Chennai. The minister, according to sources fell unconscious and is admitted to Government multi super specialty hospital at Omarandur Estate in Chennai.

It may be noted that the ED has conducted raids at the official residence and office of the minister on June 13.  However the central agency has not yet released any document regarding the reason of the arrest but it is believed that Senthil Balaji was arrested in connection with a money laundering related to a job racket when he was minister in the AIADMK government of late Dr. J. Jayalalithaa during 2011-15.

DMK leader and Tamil Nadu minister for Sports development and Youth Welfare Udayanidhi Stalin while speaking to media persons said that the DMK cannot be cowed down by the intimidation tactics of the central government.

Udayanidhi Stalin and Tamil Nadu health minister, Ma Subramanian met Senthil Balaji at the hospital ICU.
