TN liquor utility, Tasmac to be totally computerized

The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) which is the state government body dealing with the sale of liquor in the state will be fully computerised.

The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) which is the state government body dealing with the sale of liquor in the state will be fully computerised. From raising an indent for stock, transporting it from distilleries and up to the point of sales, the entire operation is to become computerised.

It is to be noted that there were several complaints on Tasmac employees charging more than the MRP from tipplers and if they buyer insisted on the change, then he is not given the liquor. This has led to confrontation and physical assault in several outlets.

Sources in Tasmac told BPNS that invoicing and payments will also be computerised leading to liquor buyers getting printed bills for their purchase at retail shops. Cashless payment mode will also be implemented leading to the buyers getting lot of comfort in the shops.

A senior officer with Tasmac told BPNS that this would help in easier reconciliation of sales volume with cash. The inventory across the state can also be tracked real time using the QR code technology.

With the computerization of Tasmac several teething issues related to the functioning of the state government controlled cooperative will come to an end.

According to sources in Tasmac, public sector undertaking ,Railtel is getting the contract at a whopping sum of Rs 294 crores.

It is to be noted that the annual turnover of Tasmac in the financial year 2022-23 was Rs 44,000 crores.
