TN college team to participate in Monaco Energy Boat Challenge

An engineering college team from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu will participate in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (MEBC) 2023 from July 2 to July 8.

An engineering college team from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu will participate in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (MEBC) 2023 from July 2 to July 8.  The MEBC is organized by the Yacht Club De Monaco (YCM) which is to promote innovation in the yachting industry.

A ten member team from Kumaraguru College of Engineering, Coimbatore will compete with 16 teams from different countries to build boats with zero emission propulsion and sustainability.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin handed over a sponsorship of Rs 15 lakh on Wednesday from the Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission (Startup TN).

The Kumaraguru Engineering team, ‘Team Sea Shakthi’ had designed a hydrogen-powered energy boat with an indigenous propulsion system named Yali 2.0.

The boat has a custom fibre fabricated cockpit and an 8.4 kwh Lithium-ion battery as per pre-set energy source and a 2Kw fuel cell. It also has a 400 W solar panel as a secondary energy source.
