AIADMK expelled leader and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, O. Panneerselvam (OPS) on Thursday condemning the gory sexual assault and naked parading of two women in Manipur during the recent ethnic violence.
The video clip of the incident had gone viral in social media platforms.
AIADMK former interim general secretary and close aide of late Chief Minister V.K.Sashikala and her nephew and general secretary of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), TTV Dhinakaran also in separate statements condemned the sexual assault of women in Manipur.
The leaders in separate statements urged the Central government and Manipur state government to take stringent action against the perpetrators of violence and to bring the guilty to book.
O. Panneerselvam said that even though the incident had reportedly taken place two months ago, it was regrettable that the guilty was not arrested till now.
The three leaders called upon the central and state governments to bring a lasting solution to the basic problem in the violence hit Northeastern state of Manipur.
It may be noted that three leaders are from the powerful Thevar community of South Tamil Nadu and are expelled from the AIADMK.
