The officials of Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting searches in the premises of persons linked to Tamil Nadu minister without portfolio, Senthil Balaji in Karur.
The searches are being conducted at the premises of the personal assistant of the minister as well as some of the minister’s close acquintances.
The ED sleuths reached Karur on the morning of Thursday with the protection of CRPF men and searches are being conducted the residence of Shankar, the Personal Assistant to the minister, a granite firm’s office as also a finance firm. According to sources in the investigation agency at Chennai, searches are being conducted a five places in Karur.
It may be noted that the ED sleuths had conducted raids at another acquaintance of Senthil Balaji on Wednesday at Vedasandur in Dindigul district.
The Income Tax department and Enforcement Directorate officials had conducted raids at the premises of the Minister and his close associates including his brother Ashok Kumar in July 2023.
The minister is currently lodged in Puzhal central prison after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on 14th June 2023. The minister was arrested in a money laundering case.
