Law and Order situation failed in TN, 40 murders since September in state, AIADMK

AIADMK general secretary and opposition leader of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) said that the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu has failed entirely. The AIADMK leader who is also the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu said that in September 2023 alone 40 murders have taken place in the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, EPS said that the state police have failed miserably to extend security arrangements even to Oscar award winning musician A.R. Rahman during his concert in Chennai on Saturday.

He said that even the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s convoy was caught in the traffic block during Rahman’s concert in the East Coast Road.

The senior leader said that the AIADMK mega rally and conference at Madurai was attended by nearly 15 lakh functionaries including cadres and leaders. He said that police failed to provide proper security to even such a huge programme even after providing proper written request much in advance.

He said that on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 , a gang wielding weapons attacked three men who were returning home in Coimbatore after attending a court case. He said that the three are grievously injured and being treated in a hospital at Coimbatore.

The former Chief Minister said that while the police force was functioning in a free and fair manner during the regime of AIADMK . He added that at present the Tamil Nadu police was acting according to the wishes of the ruling DMK and called upon the state government not to allow DMK to intervene in the function of the police force in the state.
