Chennai, Sept 14 (BPNS)

Former state unit leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and motivational speaker RBVS Maniyan was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police on Thursday early morning hours. The senior leader was arrested over his speech during a private function against Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The Mambalam police confirmed the arrest of Maniyan and said that he was charged with various sections of the IPC including SC/ST Act.

It may be noted that Maniyan while addressing a private function in Chennai on September 11 has said that the Indian constitution was not framed by a single person and instead it was a collective.

He had said that the constitution was prepared by a team of 300 members led by the Prof  Rajendra Prasad.  The VHP former leader had in the speech said that certain lunatics were stating that it was BR Ambekdar who had framed the constitution and added that these people had pawned their intelligence.

Maniyan also said that Ambedkar does not belong to the caste of VCK leader Thirumavalavan and added that while Ambedkar was a Chakkliyar, Thirumavalavan was a Pariyar.

He also said that Prof. Rajendra Prasad should have been given credit for the constitution instead of Dr. Ambedkar who was only the chairman of the drafting committee.

RBVS Maniyan has also said that Ambedkar had never said that he had written the constitution. The former leader of the VHP said that Ambedkar had verified the debates, discussions and speeches and clarified them and there was no contribution from Ambedkar.
