Union Finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman has called for the auditors to embrace technology and educate smaller companies to grow.

Union Finance minister, Nirmala Sitharaman has called for the auditors to embrace technology and educate smaller companies to grow.

The Union Minister was addressing the 90th anniversary celebrations of the Society of Auditors here on Saturday.

She said that the next twenty five years are critical for India to achieve developed nation status and added that the country has progressed in many levels in the past twenty, to twenty five years. The union minister said that even the World Bank has commented that what India has achieved in the last ten years could not be achieved in sixty years.

Nirmala Sitharaman said that the practices of Chartered Accountants were going through a lot of change globally . She added that even some of those who were sitting in the audience has begun to feel the change .

The minister during her assess said , “ I comment the way in which technology has come into play and many of you are happily adapting to it “.

She said that the examinations of Chartered Accountancy will be of a different format from July 2024 onwards.

The minister said that in the next twenty five years India was having a narrow window to become a developed nation and called upon professionals including Chartered Accountants to not only focus on their profession but also to serve the nation in the best possible ways.
