Chennai, Dec 24 : The Arumbakkam police of Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu cracked a case related to the murder of a college student, Premkumar (19). Police arrested 6 men and 3 juvenile girls in the murder of Premkumar was had blackmailed and exhorted 1 lakh rupees from two Class X girls.
He was repeatedly threatening the girls as he had some intimate photographs of the girls with him. Premkumar, according to the police threatened the girls that he would upload their photographs on social media platforms if they don’t give him more money.
Fed up with the threat and intimidation, the girls spilled the matter to a Class XII girl student who was the sister of one of the girls. She intervened in the matter and informed, Ashok, her friend who asked the girls to lure Premkumar to a lonely place in Red Hills.
Police said that when Premkumar reached Red Hills, he was abducted by a gang, and later his body was found buried at Echankatumedu village. The phone in possession of Premkumar was retrieved that led to the girls who confessed to having used the services of Ashok and his accomplices.
Other than three juvenile girls, police arrested Ashok Kumar (22), M. Lenin (21), M Praveen Kumar (21), E. Jagannathan(22), R. Stephen(21), and R. Moses (29).
Police said that after kidnapping Premkumar they took him to a secluded room in Gummidipoondi and tortured him and later beat him to death and buried at Echankatumedu.
All the six were produced before a magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody. The juvenile girls are sent to a care home.
