Puducherry has no Covid -19 active cases:First time in two years

The health and family welfare department of the Union Territory of Puducherry in a statement on Friday said that the territory has no active or fresh Covid -19 cases with no patients admitted to hospitals or under home quarantine due to Covid -19.  This is the first time in two years that there are no active cases in the Union Territory, the health and family welfare department said.

The statement said that since March 24th the UT has not reported any new cases while the number of active cases was declining and in the last 24 hours ending on Thursday, there were no active cases as well.

The Director of health and family welfare in the statement said that total recoveries in the Union Territory stood at 1,63,812 out of a total of 1,65,774 cases detected so far.  1962 people lost their lives to Covid -19.

The test positivity rate in the Union Territory was zero while the fatality and recovery rates were 1.18 percent and 98.80 percent respectively.

1639,293 people have been vaccinated in the territory to date of which 9,50,199 have received the first dose, 6,74,863 received the second dose of vaccine and 14,231 received booster dose of vaccine.

The health and family welfare department directed people to continue wearing masks, social distancing, and sanitization to prevent the disease to make a comeback. It also called upon people who are yet to take their first dose of vaccine to inoculate themselves at the earliest and those who are eligible for the second dose of vaccine also to do it immediately.
