AIADMK functionary and enterprenuer, Thirumaran who lived in Kaviarasu was killed inside a temple premises at 6.30 pm on Saturday.
Thiruvamaran along with his wife, personal security officer and a policeman visited the Muthukumara Swamy temple on Saturday evening as it was their wedding anniversary.
The AIADMK leader received a call in his telephone and he walked at the entrance of the temple from the inside while his wife was in the temple.
A gang threw bombs at the realtor and was hacked to death. The policeman who was with him opened fire and one of the assailants died on the spot. The dead assailant was Suresh,19 years from Athur in Tiruvallur district. The Chengalpet police superendiendent said” The policeman opened six rounds of fire and Suresh might be a hired killer”.
CCTV visuals revealed that atleast eight men were part of the hired gang who killed the realtor. Manimalai police registered an FIR and is on the hunt of the assailants.
The deceased Thirumarans body was sent to Government hospital ,Chengalpet for autopsy. Thiruvamaran was earlier attacked twice and he managed to escape in 2016 near Singaperumal Koil and in 2017 he was again attacked. On this he obtained an armed PSO through the court for his personal safety.
Thirumaran was involved in business with several private companies in Chengalpet and Kancheepuram for business and in real estate and scrap business.
Police sources said that he had business rivalries with his former partners Rajesh and Jagan. After he realized that his life was at threat he obtained a gone from a North Eastern state without license.
