Former Member of Parliament and senior leader of DMK, AKS Vijayan was appointed as the Special representative of Tamil Nadu government in New Delhi on Monday. He will hold the office of the Special Representative for a period of one year from the date of assumption of office.
Vijayan, 61 was a three-term member of loksabha and represented the DMK in parliament in the years 1999,2004 and 2009.
He was a member of the parliamentary committee on petroleum and natural gas and chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Local Area Development Schemes.
He hails from Sithamalli in Thiruvarur district and entered the public life as a grass root activist of the DMK.
Vijayan while speaking to BPNS said, “I am thankful to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and our beloved leader Thiru MK Stalin for having chosen me for the coveted post. I have all the responsibilities in representing the state of Tamil Nadu as a Special representative and will do the duty for the whole development of the state of Tamil Nadu.”
