Judicial magistrate stabbed in his chamber  by his assistant in Salem

A judicial magistrate M. Muthupandi of Judicial magistrate court 4 in Salem was stabbed in his chamber by his assistant on Tuesday at the Salem district court complex.

 The Judicial magistrate had three wounds including a deep one in his chest. He was admitted to Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital (SGMKMCH)

Doctors confirmed at SGMKMCH confirmed that the Judicial magistrate received three stab injuries including a deep stab injury close to the heart and lungs.

The incident happened when the Judicial magistrate was in his chamber and colleagues in the court complex heard an alarming cry from the Judicial magistrate. When policemen and advocates present in the court complex rushed to the chamber, they found the Judicial magistrate profusely bleeding and with his assistant Prakash standing there with a knife.

Police said that Prakash was recently transferred from Omalur court to Salem court and he joined duty on Monday. He requested the Judicial Magistrate to transfer him back to Omalur court but the magistrate asked him to approach the principal district judge( PDJ). Police said that Prakash got irked by this and stabbed the Judicial Magistrate.

Hasthampatty police registered a case and arrested Prakash and inquiries are on.
