Kattur village in Tiruvarur district becomes the first village in TN to achieve hundred percent vaccination, Minister

Tamil Nadu Minister for Medical and Family Welfare, Ma Subramanian said that Kattur village in Tiruvarur district is the first village in Tamil Nadu to achieve 1005 Covid -19 vaccination.

The village which has a population of 3332 people had 2334 people in the eligible list for vaccination. This was after excluding pregnant women and those under the age of 18 years of age.

Minister while speaking to reporters at the Tamil Nadu secretariat on Thursday said that this was the first village in the state where all the eligible population have taken at least a single dose of vaccine.

He said, “This is the village of the mother of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Late M. Karunanidhi, Anjugam, and this is where a museum is being built in the memory of the late Chief minister”.

The Minister said that as per the  intense vaccination strategy, Tamil Nadu will ensure 100% vaccination in a select group of people such as tribals, employees of tea estates, and residents in tourist destinations. He said that this is to prepare the state before an anticipated third wave of the Covid -19 pandemic.
