Kerala: CPI leader Binoy Viswam criticizes CPI(M) for over-enthusiasm in Thrikkakkara

Ernakulam, June 4 (BPNS)

After the pathetic defeat of Left Democratic Front in Thrikkakkara bypoll, the CPI has blamed the over-enthusiasm of the CPI(M) during campaigns as one of the reasons for defeat. On Saturday, CPI leader Binoy Viswam said that the Left defeat in the constituency, was a reminder for the ruling government that no development should break people’s trust. He, also clarified that the Left Front will analyze the Thrikkakara verdict together and the parties separately, including the SilverLine. The CPI(M) was over-expecting without understanding the constituency, he added.

The CPI(M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, stated that the verdict given in Thrikkakkara, could not be considered a referendum on the SilverLine project. Meanwhile, from the very first, the CPI leaders had openly and secretly opposed the K-Rail project. After the loss, Binoy Viswam strongly believed that the verdict in Thrikkakara is also a verdict given in favor of anti-K-Rail protests that happened across the state.

The LDF candidate Dr.Jo Joseph presented K-Rail project in augmented reality for campaigns in Thrikkakkara, where laying survey stones has been put on hold for the time being. From P.Rajeev’s dramatical strategy to introduce the candidate in presence of a priest to the execution of electoral tactics, the state leadership led the campaign from the front. But, before the announcement of official results, the CPI(M) Ernakulam district secretary CN Mohanan has made it clear that the district leadership has no responsiblity. The LDF suffered a major defeat with a huge margin of 25,000 votes when the CPI(M) internally assessed that it could win or lose by 2,500 votes.
